Red Bull

I recently drank my first Red Bull. I was trying to wake up from a bad night’s sleep on a day where I needed to be on the ball. It got me thinking about how big this type of drink has become and what that says about our society.

When a product like that takes off and many knockoffs follow, it always reflects a natural demand. What’s sad to me about this is how many people use these drinks regularly to pound through their day. I’m not judgmental about their use of it, I’m just saddened by the pace of the world we live in which allows a product like this to fill a need and to become so easily entrenched.

It’s the need that I have the beef with. If we were able to slow down a bit and get proper sleep, this type of product would not have a chance, yet I see lots of families going in “high gear” full time. I just don’t think we were intended to function like this over long, sustained durations. It’s the old human doing vs. human being deal. I’m all for productivity, but I don’t want to look back at life and say I needed stimulants just to get through most days

As Family First Entrepreneurs we also have to look at the example we provide for our kids in regard to this subject. Many times I feel a need to remind myself to slow down and take in my surroundings. I’m so lucky that God put two little boys in my life to keep me aware of the pace I should really setting rather than going full steam ahead. Make time for human being time, especially focused, family time.
