Green Grass

I have a couple Canadian buddies that I do business with and I talked to them both today. It was funny, they both made very similar comments on the same day without even knowing one another. They both said it was inspirational to speak with me, and that our conversations always got their juices flowing. One said it directly and the other I know well enough to read between the lines. When I hear messages like that, I always take time to reflect on the reasoning behind them.

The conversation with one of the men, and I’ll call him “The Voice of Darth Vader” started with, “So does the grass look any greener out there?” I responded with, “Well, with my cash flow right now, it should be a dirt-stained, gray mess but it looks green to me.” I explained that with all the new projects I had in place, as well as the learning that was being stimulated, I felt blessed to be in the thick of it all. The ironic thing was, when he called me back this morning, I had just finished an embarrassing conversation with my wife wherein she asked me how much longer I was going to be working in the office, and I responded with, “All day,” and remarked that I was wondering why my assistant hadn’t shown up yet.” She semi-kindly reminded me as she rolled her eyes that it was Saturday and that we had planned to be doing some Mother’s Day stuff. Whoops, bad Daddy, bad Daddy.

Why was I in the office? Because I was excited. It’s that feeling that you get when you realize that you get to go to work as opposed to having to go to work. That’s when being a multifaceted entrepreneur can be so great. I can get really caught up in the pursuit of it all, and as Darth pointed out, reward always comes with that kind of hardcore intention.

My other buddy, “The Alberta Connection,” directly stated that his juice always flowed with me because I always have something cooking, and it was fun to hear about it, and it inspired him, to, as he said, "get off his lazy @$$."

I’ve always been a believer in whatever it takes. I also have people that I call for inspiration and motivation and as I write this, I’m realizing both of these guys are two of those people. It is my faith in a Higher Power that keeps me positive, I KNOW that as long as I stay responsible for the footwork, as long as I work smart, and surround myself with able, good people, He will take care of the results and give me what I need.
