Grace for Mom
Submitted by marcwarnke on Wed, 11/26/2008 - 10:07My wife worked for the first time since the kids were born this weekend and I was on full Dad duty, in charge of a nursing one year old and a four and half year old for three days. It gave me a new level of appreciation for my wife and the role she has in our family.
What struck me the most was the hyper vigilance it took to stay ahead of everything going on. While one kid was being fed, the other was pooping his pants. I took care of the the meals, snacks, laundry, dishes, and the list went on and on. continue reading...

As a result of my nature to gravitate toward the easy side, in this case, work, I find it necessary to keep myself in check by remembering what’s truly important.

Toxic Work Environments
Submitted by marcwarnke on Fri, 07/11/2008 - 13:40I have spoken to some people lately about working in toxic work environments and I thought I would give you my take on it. What I find is that this sort of thing almost always starts at the top. It is the owner or manager that breeds the toxicity.
If owners or managers of businesses lack personal health in their own lives, they bring it to work with them. They, in turn, hire like-minded people; they also manage their people with dysfunction, and they make decisions based on ego. This is a recipe for an unhappy work environment and long term vulnerability for the company. continue reading...
