Teaching Children Delayed Gratification

In last night’s reading the author spoke of a thirty-year study done with children ranging from four to five years old. He put them in a room with a clock, a table, and on the table was a marshmallow. He told the children that the marshmallow was theirs to eat, but if he came back in ten minutes and it was still there, they would be given another one. continue reading...

Jaken’s Entrepreneurial Report

This was a whole Warnke family effort. Sue served as the food technical support person, ten-month-old Tucker giggled and smiled as usual, and I helped with Jaken’s “sales presentation.” I knew we would need something special for it to be good for him, so we worked on his lines. Peaceful Saving

Good food, toys for the kids, trinkets I don’t need, toys for myself, and on and on. I noticed this desire again recently, and I realized that I have learned to channel that desire into saving and that saving has become my new validation. continue reading...
