Twitter Trolls
I have come across people on twitter using the term “Twitter-trolls” lately. I Wish I knew who said it first so I could credit them. If you need an explanation--they are the folks who sit and wait for any tweet they can jump on and tell the person what a schumk they are. Twitter Trolls come in many forms.
I do have to say that in my own following, I have very few. Unfollowing them has been an easy solution. When I get criticized, I look into their tweet list and see if it is a pattern for them. If not, I’m always willing to have a spirited debate with a reasonable person, but when I see in their tweet list is a long series of complaints about other peoples’ ideas then I know I have a Troll on my hands. Click, unfollow.
Righteous indignation is like a drug and twitter offers a public platform for the “grump club” to let it fly. The good news is they are very, very few. Twitter still has a heavy positive vibe and with my topic, Family First Entrepreneurism, I run into passionate family folk around every corner.
I’m sure I will have critics when ONO comes out in April. There are no authors who avoid that. I’m going to have to stay the course and answer their criticisms as long as they stay reasonable. I’m okay with people disagreeing with my ideas or thoughts but I’m not okay with a stinkn’ thinkn’ troll.
If you are a twitter troll you will be blacklisted by the good folk. Keep in mind, I don’t think people have to be “sappy-the world is great” all the time on twitter. Twitter is about transparency, and if you truly are transparent that means you talk about the good and the tough stuff including what you don’t agree with.
Be careful how many times you mount the soap box of righteous indignation. Be supportive, thoughtful and interesting. Negative breeds negative and the spawn of twitter trolls will be worthless in the end.

Being new to Twitter, I've never heard the term either. But yikes! I'm glad I know who they are now so I won't wring my hands with self doubt should I get trolled. Unfortunately, trolling is not exclusive to Twitter. I once posted a YouTube video (to accompany an article) of my then six-year-old son's erupting volcano that he had created on his own accord with absolutely no help from me. Of the few comments the video received, one was so vitriolic, it made my stomach hurt. It turns out, though, the comment came from some punk kid. There are some people whose only pleasure in life is to criticize others. I feel sorry for them.

Twitter trolls? Never had an expericene with one... My first reaction in reading what you wrote is: Why did he plant that seed in my head, I hope it doesn't grow... Anyways I like your Family first entrepreneurism idea!
I like if not for any other reason than I can't count how many times a logger told me had to cut down 700 year old Redwood tress to "Feed his Family?" And what of all the other families that have to live witout the value of those trees for 700 years... In other words let's making feeding our family central to all we do, but let's not do it in a way that makes future genreations unable to feed their families!
