Transition Moments
I just got back from lunch with one of my wise old business buddies. He has been a mentor to me and it’s been a while since we have gotten together. I mentioned to him that he had lost weight and he responded with, “Ya, that’s what a heart attack will do to you.” I was blown away. Not only could I have lost a good friend but I was so intrigued to see what he had taken from that experience.
In my studies of wealthy people, which he is, I have found that it is moments like this that cause introspection that can alter the direction of one’s life. I could see those wheels turning for him, so I asked him, ” Whats going through you mind now that this happened?”
His response was as I expected. He mentioned things like how he wanted to teach at a local college to help people benefit from his wealth of information in business lending, which is his area of expertise. He also mentioned politics as a potential avenue because, as he said, “This country is on it’s back right now and we need good people involved to help her stand back up again.”
These are examples of how when something tragic happens to people they realize their time spent here is about a lot more than the pursuit of wealth. It becomes about their kids, their community, their church, or their country. It always goes to something greater than themselves. My point of this blog is to ask, is it going to be a heart attack that makes you realize this or will this blog? The whole point of ONO is to get people on a track that allows them to fulfill this higher purpose earlier in life. If this had a chance to happen as a country wide collective, man, we could move mountains.
