Energy Begets Energy

Do you know that person that you’re around every now and then that is so passionate about whatever they have on the burner that you find yourself being drawn into their world and you get excited, too? Well, creating this excitement in others is the most basic gift of sales and we all can do it.

My wife and I went to a “green expo” this weekend looking for green ideas for our home. We came across a booth called Baby Boms which was selling cloth diapers. We were met with a wall of enthusiasm about infant poop and pee collection. These ladies were genuinely energetic, passionate and flat out excited to be talking to people about their brain child that they had invented over the past 5 years of experimentation. In their story of how that came about, they were able to be evangelical about it and enroll my wife and me in the church of poop collection and disposal. Their story was cool, so was their product, and their energy rubbed off on us. The result is that they “hired” two of the best sales people I know (my wife and I) and we paid them for the privilege. I say this because we will tell people now in our circle about these diapers. Energy begets energy and does incredible things to spread an idea. A gentleman named Justin Foster wrote in depth on this in a post I read recently called Marketing from the Inside Out and he talks about how customer evangelism is a key to the grass roots, viral strategy.

I would love to mentor these mompreneurs. They have a lot of the most difficult things figured out already, now it’s about mixing passion with wisdom.

I will write more on mompreneurs in the future. For more ideas and info on this, check out a couple of these blogs:
